With over 30 years in surface design, she enjoys the unexpected results from working with uncontrollable substances and processes, allowing new meanings in color and texture.

My friend Nora says I am fearless. While I’m not sure I would describe
myself that way, I do love a challenge—and art has always been mine. Growing up
on a farm, I learned resourcefulness from my father, while my aunts nurtured a
love of making things by hand. Those influences continue to shape my work
today.

I have always been drawn to fabric and creativity. After studying design,
art history, and graphic arts, I discovered fabric dyeing when I moved to
Montana in the 1970s. That first batik class sparked a lifelong exploration of
dyeing techniques, many of which I layer to create depth and texture in my
work.

Today, my art combines eco printing, fiber, metal, and mixed media. Using
leaves, dyes, and metal, I create one-of-a-kind scarves, recycled vintage
blanket tote bags, jewelry, and wall art. My background in metalsmithing often
finds its way into these pieces, adding another dimension to the creative
process.

Nature, texture, and organic forms are my constant inspiration. I strive to
create work that is sophisticated, balanced, and unique. At the heart of it all
is curiosity—the questions “What if?” and “Why not?” continue to guide my
artistic journey.
